Fed: Board appointed to oversee migration agent regulator

CANBERRA, Aug 13 AAP - The federal government has announced the appointment of an advisory
board to guide the newly-established Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority
(MARA).

The board will be chaired by former lawyer and secretary of the Attorney-General's
Department, Robert Cornall.

The office was established on recommendations from a 2007/08 review which found dissatisfaction
among consumers and potential conflicts of interest in previous arrangements.

The advisory board comprises a representative from the Migration Institute of Australia,
the Law Council of Australia, as well as community and consumer advocates.
